AI for fire departments
These are AI workflows that fire departments and fire-based EMS agencies have put in place or that follow a clear public pattern. Each one links to its public source.
They help with the work around the work: policy lookup, run report QA, training follow-up and grant prep. A person reviews every output. None of them replace CAD, RMS or fireground judgment.
Workflows with public sources
Policy manual assistant at every station
Minoa Fire Department lets firefighters ask questions of its 754-page policy manual from station Chromebooks or phones.
EMS run report QA that assigns short training
An Ohio fire and EMS department uses AI to review run reports, flag care gaps and assign 15-minute training sessions.
Daily grant watch on Grants.gov and FEMA fire grants
An agent runs saved searches on the Simpler.Grants.gov API each day and sends a short digest of new public safety grants.
AFG and SAFER narrative prep with fact checks
Use AI to organize run data and outline AFG or SAFER narratives, then verify every number before submission.
Common questions
Can AI answer questions from our SOGs?
Yes, if the assistant only answers from your own manual and cites the section. Minoa Fire Department in New York lets members ask questions of its 754-page policy manual from station Chromebooks. The manual stays the authority.
Is it safe to put EMS run reports into an AI tool?
Not into a public tool. Run reports contain PHI. Use only a vendor covered by HIPAA with a signed BAA, and keep the QA officer or medical director in charge of findings.
Does any of this replace CAD or RMS?
No. These tools sit beside your systems of record. They do not enter data into CAD or RMS on their own.
Want it set up for your department?
The Station Admin Pack covers this, at $999 setup + $199/mo. Our team reviews every request and replies by email.
How we work
- Human in the loop. A person reviews and approves every output before it is used.
- No CAD or RMS replacement. These tools sit beside your systems of record. They do not replace them.
- No PHI or CJI in public tools. Protected health and criminal justice data stay in approved, compliant systems.
- Your agency keeps control. Accounts, data and prompts belong to you. You can turn it off at any time.
